Sarah Naylor (biography)
Sarah is from the Isle of Skye off the North West coast of Scotland. She grew up in the small fishing village of Uig on the north end of the island. The piping and Gaelic traditions that surrounded her as a child have greatly influenced her style of fiddling.
In 2005 she attended Sabhal Mor Ostaig, the Gaelic college on Skye and the same year her assured and technically accomplished playing saw her win the prestigious 2005 Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship held at Blair Athol Castle.
Sarah graduated with First Class Honours form Strathclyde University, Glasgow, with a BA in Applied Music. She was awarded the Alexander Stone prize for excellence in Solo Performance and she hopes to continue developing as a soloist. Past performances include the Lorient Interceltique Festival, Celtic Connections and Fiddle 2006.... Naylor married gutsy attack with strutting poise and rich, mellifluous resonance... displaying admirable control and assurance across the full gamut of pace and mood...Scotsman.
Sarah is an experienced fiddle teacher both privately and with Live Music Now and the Feisean. Recently she has been taking the music classes for the Argyll Fiddle workshops in Dunoon.
