Dagger Gordon was born in Dingwall in the North of Scotland in 1953 and has played the mandolin since he was 19. He has released two solo albums featuring his mandolin playing - ʻHighland Mandolinʼ, which was the first ever mandolin album of Scottish music, and ʻThe Frozen Riverʼ.
He is known as a composer, and his tunes have been recorded by various artistes including The Barra McNeils, Hamish Moore, Liz Docherty, Sandy Brechin and others.
He plays in a number of ceilidh bands, has recorded with the groups Black Donald and Highland Connection and has regularly appeared on TV and radio and at such festivals as Celtic Connections and Blas.
He currently spends a lot of his time teaching Scottish music to young people. He works and has recorded with the young groups The Gizzen Briggs and The Kiltearn Fiddlers; he teaches guitar and other instruments for Feis Rois and he takes his music into primary schools as a tutor for the Youth Music Initiative.
He has a farm near Invergordon, where he breeds sheep and cattle, and where he lives with his lovely American wife Julie and their three musical children Colin, Donald and Neil.
