From Moffat's 'Minstrelsy of the Scottish Highlands' (1907). Henry Whyte, the translator of the Gaelic words, was an active collector of Gaelic folk-tunes towards the end of the 19th century. Many well-known Gaelic songs survived because of his efforts.
